My name is Mark Gorodetzer and I am a suicide survivor. In September 2016 in January 2017, I was dealing with things that I didn’t understand, then late in 2017 I realized what mental health issue are and how they can mess with your life.
It’s now 2021 and I feel that I found my purpose in life. During my dark period I never cooked and that is my stress relief. So I decided to take what I have learned about mental health and my enjoyment of BBQ and other foods, I founded “reQ therapy BBQ for mental health”.
I am affiliated with various organizations such as NAMI, Zero Suicide, Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Nevada Coalition for Suicide Prevention, Las Vegas Mayor’s Challenge, State of Nevada Governors Challenge, PsychArmor and more. I also interact many with many veterans groups in Southern Nevada. As I continue with my own mental health education, I want to assist others who are dealing with similar issues. This journey has not been easy and I am grateful for all the people that have met, partnered with, allowed me to join them and most importantly, accepted me for who I am.
Please join me as I share my story and food pictures. There are so many people that have supported me as I continue through my mental health process. Now its my turn to serve the community and have fun everyday!
